Where Fantasy Becomes Couture
Antoinette 1999 — The Gown That Started the House
Engineering & Design
Beneath its historical silhouette lies a concealed system of couture engineering. The gown is constructed to be worn as a complete ceremonial piece, holding its shape through sculptural corsetry, hidden fastenings, and carefully controlled internal structure. At the wearer’s chosen moment, the outer skirt can be released through a discreet closure mechanism, transforming the piece instantly from courtly grandeur into a second silhouette beneath.
This hidden tearaway construction allows the gown to move between fantasy and performance — first appearing as a full Marie Antoinette-inspired couture gown, then releasing with dramatic immediacy. Designed to be worn normally before the reveal, the mechanism remains invisible until activated, preserving the illusion of a seamless couture piece while allowing the garment to become a moment of spectacle.
