Your couture journey
“Opera Grey” Couture Piece, imagined for Ariana Grande’s Wicked Press Tour
Couture is the creation of a singular garment, imagined and constructed around the individual. At House of Alvin, each couture piece is developed through story, silhouette, fittings, and handwork — transforming fabric into something deeply personal, theatrical, and entirely one of one.
The First ConversationThe process begins with an online consultation to understand your vision, occasion, timeline, and investment range. This may be followed by an appointment at our London showroom to explore references, silhouettes and fabrics in more depth.
The DesignFollowing the consultation, the House develops a design direction through sketches, fabric considerations, and construction notes. Each proposal is shaped around the individual — balancing romance, proportion, movement, and the technical architecture required to bring the garment to life.
The FittingsOnce the commission is confirmed, the atelier begins with a toile: a first version of the garment made to refine fit, silhouette, and structure before cutting into final fabrics. Most couture pieces require two to three fittings, with remote toile fittings available for international clients where appropriate.
The MakingAfter the silhouette is perfected, the garment is cut, constructed, and finished in the final fabrics, with handwork, corsetry, draping, embellishment, or structural details developed according to the design.
A private Couture process, created for one person, one occasion, one vision.

Each commission begins with an enquiry and consultation to understand your occasion, timeline, budget, references, and desired silhouette. From there, the House advises whether a bespoke couture piece, adapted archive design, or existing piece would be most suitable.

Every couture commission is priced individually, reflecting the intricacy of the design, materials, construction, handwork, and timeline required. Past House of Alvin commissions have ranged from £5,000 to £25,000, with each proposal developed around the client’s vision and desired level of craftsmanship.
Where suitable, the House may also advise on adapting an existing silhouette or archive design to align with the client’s vision, occasion, and investment range.

Full couture bridal and occasionwear commissions are ideally begun one year in advance, with a minimum lead time of eight months recommended. Shorter timelines may be considered depending on the atelier calendar and the complexity of the piece.
Commissions required within four months are subject to a 30% rush surcharge, reflecting the additional atelier resources required to prioritise the work within the existing schedule and secure specialist support where needed.

With over 60% of House of Alvin clients based outside the UK, the couture process is designed to support international commissions. Consultations may take place virtually, with remote toile fittings, detailed measurement guidance, and international shipping arranged where appropriate.

Most couture commissions involve two to three in-person fittings. These usually begin with a toile fitting to refine the silhouette and structure before the final garment is cut. Remote toile fittings may be available for international clients.
For Cinzia and Sophia’s Christmas spectacular, House of Alvin created two fairytale couture pieces inspired by Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, drawing from the romance of “The Waltz of the Flowers” and the crystalline magic of “The Waltz of the Snowflakes.” Conceived as ethereal snow fairies for the stage, the pieces were brought to life through hundreds of hand-cut beaded appliqués and over 600 hours of atelier work — answering a brief for something magical, theatrical, and impossible to find elsewhere.
Miss Lisa Omeleh
Private Bridal Commission, June 23rd 2026
Inspired by Lisa’s vision for an effortlessly chic Parisian bridal look, House of Alvin looked to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica as a point of architectural romance. The custom couture gown featured a tailored duchess silk satin bodice with concealed corsetry, a low sculpted back, and silk-covered buttons, unfolding into an architectural silk dupion cage skirt formed through eight boned conical structures. A gathered illusion tulle veil, hand-finished with three-dimensional rose embroidery, completed the commission.

Miss Julie Mintz
Coachella Weekend Two, 2026 — Performance with Moby, April 17, 2026
For Julie Mintz’s Coachella performance with Moby, House of Alvin reimagined the Wedding Impérial couture piece in a soft cream palette, tailored to her measurements and stage presence. Deadstock lace was sourced for the commission, then carefully hand-cut over several weeks and appliquéd across the bow forms to create depth, texture, and movement. The bust was fully hand-beaded by a specialist beader, bringing a luminous, couture finish to a piece designed for both performance and fantasy.
